Summerlea Golf Course Limited Accessible Customer Service Plan

Summerlea Golf Club Limited is committed to providing great customer service to all customers and guests. Upon request, we will make a reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of any customer. If the customer’s needs cannot be accommodated we will ask how we can better serve them in the future.

Assistive Devices

We will ensure that our staff is trained and familiar with the various assistive devices we have on site that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services.

Definitions

Assistive Device is a technical aid, communication device or other instrument that is used to maintain or improve the functional abilities of people with disabilities. Personal assistive devices are typically devices that customers bring with them such as a wheelchair, walker or a personal oxygen tank that might assist in hearing, seeing, communicating, moving, breathing, remembering and/or reading.

Disability – the term disability as defined by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and the Ontario Human Rights Code, refers to:

 - Any degree of physical disability, infirmity, malformation or disfigurement that is caused by bodily injury, birth defect or illness and, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, includes diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, a brain injury, any degree of paralysis, amputation, lack of physical co-ordination, blindness or visual impediment, deafness or hearing impediment, muteness or speech impediment, or physical reliance on a guide dog or other animal or on a wheelchair or other remedial appliance or device;

-a condition of mental impairment or a developmental disability;

-a learning disability, or dysfunction in one or more of the processes involved in understanding or using symbols or spoken language;

-a mental disorder; or

-an injury or disability for which benefits were claimed or received under the 
insurance plan established under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, 1997. 


 Communication

We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.

Service animals

We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public.

Support persons

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. Fees will not be charged for support persons so long as that person is not golfing or dining in the establishments.

We will post this notice online and it will be available in the Pro Shop.

Notice of temporary disruption

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers with disabilities such as  the Paragolfer, The Summerlea Golf Club Limited will notify customers promptly. This clearly posted notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated length of time, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.

The notice will be placed in the Pro Shop as well as online.

Training

The Summerlea Golf Club Limited will provide training to employees, volunteers and others who deal with the public or other third parties on our behalf. Training will also be provided to people involved in the development of policies, plans, practices and procedures related to the provision of our goods and services.

Training will include:

  •  An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the requirements of the Customer Service Standard.
  • The Summerlea Golf Club Limited’s plan related to the Customer Service Standard.
  • How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities
  • How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person
  • How to use the Paragolfer
  • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing The Summerlea Golf Club Limited’s goods and services
  • Staff will also be trained when changes are made to our accessible customer service plan.

Feedback process

Customers who wish to provide feedback on the way The Summerlea Golf Club Limited provides goods and services to people with disabilities can let us know via email (admin@brucesgolfrewards.com), verbally or through our customer service survey. 

All feedback, including complaints, will be reviewed and responded to.

Customers can expect to hear back within 7 days.

Notice of availability

The Summerlea Golf Club Limited will notify the public that our policies are available upon request by putting the information online and having it available in the Pro Shop.

Modifications to this or other policies

Any policy of The Summerlea Golf Club Limited that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.
